Chapter 3
The Reality
2 months after
“Sonata! Sonata!” Sanako
called out to her sister who was sitting at her wheelchair at the
hospital garden.
“Oh Sana, What’s wrong?”
Sonata asked to her sister who was gasping as she run towards her.
“Did something happen?”
“Mom is looking for you, Why did
you left without telling us!” Sanako hissed. “You shouldn’t run
off somewhere alone.”
“I’m sorry. I just want to
feel the wind a little so I decided to come to this garden.” She
explained. “Sorry for making you worry.”
“But still don’t do it again
what if you’re wheelchair tripped and you got hurt? Remember you
can’t hurt any parts of your body because they won’t heal!”
Sana warned to her sick sister. This is part of Sonata’s illness
her body can’t supplement enough to heal wounds on her body so she
was always kept inside their house. She only comes out whenever she
needs to go to the hospital for examinations.
“I’m really sorry Sana,”
Sonata said with a very sad voice.
“Ok, I’ll forgive you.”
Sanako said to her pitiful little sister. “Let’s go back now. The
doctor is going to examine your body again.”
Sanako then carefully pushed
Sonata’s wheelchair inside the hospital. Until they’ve reached
the examination room.
“Sonata, just stay here for a
while. I’m going to look for mom.” Sana said to her sister before
leaving her beside the corridor.
Sonata then quietly sat there
while waiting for his sister when the wind blew making her hair flew
all over her face. She started removing them on her face when she
heard footstep. She thought it was her sister or mom so she thought
of asking for help.
“Can you help me with my hair?”
she politely asked. Then she felt someone touching her hair and
carefully removed them to her face. Her eyes widened when she saw
someone else.
“Who are you?” she blurted.
The boy in front of him was surprised with her reaction. The boy run
away and left her alone.
“Ahh I scared him.” Sonata
whispered. She was about to follow the kid when her mom and sister
arrived.
“Sonata, what’s wrong?” her
mom asked to the girl who was trying to walk away again.
“No there’s nothing,” she
replied. Her mom then pulled her wheelchair so they could enter the
examination room.
The examination took about 30
minutes so Sonata got a bit exhausted.
“Mom, could I get a tea at the
vending machine?” Sonata asked to her mom’s permission.
“Okay but ask your sister to
come with you, ok?” her mom replied.
Sonata then left the examination
room to see her sister but she didn’t found her outside so she
decided to go alone. As she was near the vending machine she suddenly
saw someone at the side of her eyes. As she tried to see the person
clearly the money she was holding fell on the floor making an
undesirable sound that got the boy’s attention.
“You again?” the boy said as
the boy walked towards her.
“Ah!” she blurted as she
remember the kid’s face. “You were the one who’ve helped me.”
The boy started picking up the
coins that fell from Sonata’s hand.
“Thank you for helping me with
my hair. And also, I’m sorry for yelling at you as well.” The
girl politely said. “I didn’t mean to scare you”
“No, it’s alright.” The boy
said as he hand the coins to the girl. The boy was about to leave her
alone.
“Wait!” Sonata yelled making
the boy stopped. “What’s your name?”
The boy stopped and faces the
girl.
“I’m Akemi,” The boy said.
He continued walking after that leaving Sonata alone.
“His face looks familiar...”
she muttered while trying to remember.
“SONATA!” The voice of her
sister yelling as she saw her sister near the vending machine.
“Didn’t I just tell you not to leave without telling us?”
“Waaah! I’m sorry! I’m
sorry!” Sonata apologized.
“Even though I’ve told you a
lot of times, you never listen to me!” Sanako reminded. “Well
expected from you,” Sana said while pinching her sister’s cheeks.
The two then laughed after that.
“Have you bought already your
drink already?” Sanako asked.
“No not yet, the coins fell on
my hand.” She explained. “But a young boy helped me out so it’s
fine already” She energetically said while showing the money on her
palm.
“Well if you say so...” Sanako
answered. “Let’s go buy then?”
“Okay!” Sonata said to her
sister with a smile.
“By the way Sanako...” She
wants to ask something to her sister but somehow she’s confused
whether she’ll ask her or not. “Ah’ no nothing...”
“Okay...” Sanako answered
while looking at her sister from the back. She then pushed the wheel
chair to where the vending machine is.
“Sonata, is there something
bothering you?” Sanako asked to her sister who was acting a bit
weird since she saw her at the hospital corridor.
“Eh? Why did you asked?” The
girl answered to her sister’s question making Sana anxious.
“Well you’re acting weird
since a while ago, if there’s something you want to say. Can’t I
be the one to listen to you?” Sana asked with a very sympathizing
face. “I want to know Sonata’s real feelings,”
The girl who was sitting on her
wheel chair becomes silent. Somehow she looked like she’s thinking
a lot.
“Sanako, I’m sorry for always
worrying you.” Sonata apologizes. “It’s just that I’m worried
about the boy I met a while ago. He seemed sad.”
“What boy?” Sana asked.
“The boy who had helped me out
with my hair and also the one who picked up the coins for me a while
ago,” Sonata explained. “I felt like his lost and his eyes were
dull,”
“And you’re curious about
him?” Sanako said with a grin on her face.
“Eh? How did you know?” Sonata
asked.
“Well what do you expect from
our little girl here who’ve never fell in love yet?” Sonata
answered with a smile on her face.
“LOVE!” Sonata exclaimed.
“Impossible! That boy is just a kid I mean he looks like he was
around 11-13 years old only!”
“But he looks mature and cute,
right?” Sanako teased. “And thought he’s cool for a moment when
he passed on me,”
“Did you saw him?” Sonata
asked.
“Yeah, when I was looking for
you I passed on him near the corridor. I think he is a patient here
because he entered one of the rooms near the alley and the way he
dressed.” Sana further explained. “Do you want to see him?”
“Really?” Sonata asked out of
excitement. “Can I give him a drink to thank him for helping me
with my hair and the coins as well?”
“Sure!” Sanako replied. “So
which one should I get?”
Sanako asked while standing at the
front of a vending machine looking seriously at the drinks arranged
in front of her.
“I want CC Lemon!” Sonata
answered to her sister who was waiting for her. “And you can get
the same for the boy.”
Sanako then put the coins inside
her hand to the coin hole and pushed the button for the CC lemon. She
does it twice.
“What about you, Sana?” Her
sister asked when she saw her stopped after buying the 2 CC Lemon.
“Aren’t you getting any?”
“Nope, I’m not thirsty yet.”
Sanako answered. “Let’s go?”
“Okay!” Sonata answered while
her sister handed the two CC Lemon to her.
The two then went to their way to
the boy’s room when they saw a doctor came out of the room.
“Oh! The Minako twins,” The
man in robe greeted.
“Doctor Nakazawa!” Sonata
greeted. Sanako then bowed her head to show respect to the doctor.
“Are you here for your
examination?” The doctor asked.
“Yes, Doctor,” The young girl
replied with a smile on her face. “What about you, Doctor?”
“Oh me? I just finished checking
Akemi’s health.” The doctor answered.
“So he’s name was Akemi?”
Sonata blurted.
“Do you know him?” The doctor
asked.
“Yeah, I met him a while ago he
helped me out twice.” The girl explained with a very passionate
smile.
“Ah really? Well I’m glad
then. That kid never spoke to anyone before and he’s always run
away from people. Even though he had been here for almost 2 months
already he never opened his heart to anyone. So we’re kind a losing
our hope to find his family.” The doctor blurted. “Oh I’m
telling thing I shouldn’t, Sorry”
“No, its fine I want to know
things about that kid, Doctor,” Sonata said with a very passionate
eyes to the Doctor.
“Really? Then I’m glad you’re
here. Please be Akemi’s friend, ok?” The doctor said as he pats
Sonata on her head. The Doctor then left after that.
“Sonata, Let’s go?” Sanako
asked.
“Okay...” She excitedly
replied. “But would you mind if I enter alone?”
“Then I’ll just wait here
then...” Sanako replied to her sister.
After that Sonata entered the room
by pushing the wheel of her wheel chair. She then saw the boy
standing quietly near the window, he staring blankly at the blue sky.
“Do you love the sky?” Sonata
asked to get the boy’s attention.
Upon hearing Sonata’s voice the
boy looked back to where the voice is coming from.
“What are you doing here?” the
boy said as he jerked back.
“Ah! I’m sorry for surprising
you again,” Sonata apologized. “I came here to thank you for
helping me out.” The girl politely said to the boy who’s acting
strange.
The boy just ignored her and
started walking away but Sonata held his hand making him snap back
pulling Sonata.
“Booogsshhh...” A loud sound
of something fell on the floor.
“Ouccchh...” Sonata said as
she holds her left hand who got hurt when she fell. She stumbled on
the floor when Akemi pulled his hand away.
“I’m sorry...” The boy
apologizes to the girl who fell on the floor. “I don’t have
intention to hurt you,”
“It’s alright but can you help
me return to my wheel chair before someone enters?” Sonata said
with a smile on the boy. “It was also my fault for touching you,
I’m sorry as well,”
“Okay...” The boy then helped
Sonata return to her wheel chair by supporting her from her armpit
making Sonata’s grown breast touched his body making him blushed.
After helping Sonata sit on her wheel chair he jerked back a little.
“Did it hurt somewhere?”
“Nope! I’m fine thank you,”
Sonata said with a smile on her face.
“I’m glad then” The boy said
without looking at Sonata.
“You’re a nice kid..,”
Sonata commented. “But why do you looked lonely?”
The boy just kept silent making
Sonata felt anxious. She pushed herself near the boy who was standing
in front of him. When she was near him already she held the kids
hand, his hand that was wrapped with bandage.
“What are you doing?” The boy
exclaimed. He didn’t snap back his hand like he did a while ago
because he was scared that he got the girl hurt again.
“Ah, sorry!” The girl
apologized. “I just thought of holding your hands because you look
really sad.”
The two stayed like that when
someone suddenly knocked surprising the two inside. The two looked to
where the door finding Sanako standing there.
“I’m sorry for disturbing the
two of you but I think we should go back now, Sonata. Mom will be
worried if we don’t return now.” Her sister said while grinning
to the two. She then closed the door again.
The two was left blushing when
they’ve remembered the position they were in now.
“I’m sorry, I have to go
already.” Sonata said as she pushed herself near the door. “Goodbye
Akemi!”
The girl said before leaving the
boy inside his room startled by the thing he just found out but
before he realize it the girl already left.
“She’s the girl on my dream.
She’s the girl I’ve been looking for.” Akemi muttered on is
self. “She’s Sonata...”
“Sonata, is there something
wrong?” Sanako asked as she pushed her sister’s wheel chair.
“You’re sweating.”
“No I’m fine...” She replied
though the truth she was hurting. She was trying to keep her swollen
hand from her sister. The hand she bumped on her wheel chair when she
fell a moment ago.
“Sanako, Sonata!” her mom
called out. “Where did the heck did you two went, I’ve been
looking for you!” Her mom yelled.
“I’m sorry M...” Sonata
tried to explain but the pain from her hands stopped her. She can’t
endure it anymore, so she fainted because of pain.
