Chapter 2
The Unexpected turn of Event
Ruromiya
Trade-in’s Building, Tokyo ,
Japan
April 20, 2997
“Booogsshhh....”
The sound of box falling on the floor filled the small storage room inside the Ruromiya
Trade-in’s Building.
“Imari,
are you alright?” The manager of the Ruromiya
Trade-in’s Company asked.
“I’m
fine, Sir. My hands just slipped a bit.” She explained.
“That’s
why I told you not to do those work. Why don’t you just let Yuuya finish them
and rest for a while?” The manager suggested. “And also if Yuuya arrived could
you tell him to deliver this to the Minako residence?”
The
manager handed a medium size box to Imari before he left the employee inside the
storage room. Imari was about to put the box at her table when she felt
someone’s presence in the room.
“Show
your self!” she yelled while position herself on her combat mode. “I know
you’re here!”
“Expected
from the descendant of an Ancient Mage,” A familiar voice said to Imari who’s
on a position of defense. “It’s me, Imari.”
The
girl said before showing her form to the young mage.
“Ai...
Is that you? What are you doing here?” The young mage asked. “Where have you
been for this past 10 years?”
“It’s
a long story but first could I ask you a favor?” The girl named Ai asked.
“What
is it? Tell me...” Imari replied to a long lost friend. “You know we wouldn't say NO to the person who've helped us a lot,”
“Thanks,”
Ai politely said. “Here...” She said as she handed something to Imari.
“What
is this?” Imari asked as well out of curiosity. “What should I do with it?” she
added.
“Please
send it together to the Minako residence,” She explained. “Make sure that my
mo...Sonata will get a hold of it,” Ai explained. Her voice somehow started to
become strange.
Imari
was about to ask more question to her friend when Ai’s body started to fade
making her anxious.
“What’s
happening to you?” Imari said while panicking.
“I’m
sorry, Imari but I don’t have time left to explain everything. I’ll disappear
from this world forever if the time inside Sonata won’t move so you have to
make sure Sonata will get a hold of the package because she’s my...” Ai’s last sentence
was cut off when her body vanished into small crystal that went to the sky.
“Ai!!!”
Imari shouted as her friend vanished in front of her.
“Imari
what’s wrong!?” Yuuya who've just came back from a meeting, heard Imari yelled
so he runs to where the girl is.
“What
happened to Imari, Sola?” Horina asked to his boyfriend who was supporting her
twin sister who’s crying a lot. She just came there after seeing Yuuya run to
the storage room.
“I
don’t know. I just came back here when I heard her yell so I run here as fast
as I can.” He explained.
“What’s
wrong, Imari?” Horina asked to her sister.
“Horina!”
she yelled as she hugged her sister tightly. “Ai...Ai... She’s gone!”
“Calm
down, Imari,” Horina said while supporting her sister so she could sit on the
chair inside the storage room. “Tell me what happened,”
“Ai
came here a while ago. She asked me to do her a favor but after explaining her
reason. Her body... her body started to fade into crystal ashes before she
completely fade she said something like the time and history is changing and
she’ll vanish forever if the thing affecting the movement of time isn’t
destroyed.” Imari explained before bursting into tears again.
“It
is the time inside that girl, Sonata.” Imari added.
“You
mean someone or something is affecting the time movement. That means even the
two of us will fade too if the thing changing the time isn’t destroyed.” Horina
muttered.
“Waaaaaah” Imari yelled. “It’s starting,
Horina!”
“So
it has come to this.” Horina calmly said as her body started fading too. She
looked straight without any worries on her eyes to her boyfriend in front of
her.
“Sola,
I’ll leave everything to you. Make sure the kid Sonata got the package. I trust
you, my beloved...” Horina said before the two completely vanished.
Yuuya
was left stunned by the sudden changed of event but he decided to stand firm
because he is the only one left to protect the time. So he hurriedly picked up
the thing Ai left and run towards the Minako residence before his memories
fades away as well.
He
runs there without looking back somehow inside him he felt like that little by
little his memories started to vanish as well. When he finally reached the
house he rung the bell furiously but somehow there were things he couldn’t stop.
His head started aching and his memories started to be erased. He then decided
to leave the package in front of the door when he heard someone went out of the
door.
He
left the gate as fast as he can.
“Who’s
there?” Mrs. Minako asked. She heard the door bell ringing furiously a while
ago so she hurriedly went to the gate but there’s no one there. The woman
looked around but she found no one so she decided to go back when she saw
something near her feet. She picked it up and saw her youngest daughter’s name
written onto the box so she brought it inside the house. Trying to check what’s
inside, she shook it a bit, when she heard no sounds inside, she left it at the
table to bring to her daughter’s room after cooking their dinner.
“I’m
home!” Sanako yelled as she opened the door to their house.
“Welcome
back, Sana ” Her
mom greeted. “Go and get change so you can eat your dinner already. I’ll be
preparing your sister’s medicine so would you mind preparing your food on your
own?”
“And
by the way could you also give the box at the table there to your sister?” her
mom added.
“Okay,
mom,” the young girl said after picking up the box for her sister. She left
after that and went straight to her sister’s room which is in the 2nd
floor of their house just beside her room. She knocked about 3 times when she
heard Sonata talked.
“Come
in!” Sonata shouted.
“I’m
back, Sonata!” Sana
said with a smile to her sister who’s sitting on her bed holding her laptop
again. “What are you doing?”
“Ah,
I’m researching about the new gadget that just came out yesterday. It looks
cool...look,” Sonata said to her sister who’ve just came back. “I asked dad to
get me one and he promised to send it to me by Thursday. I’m really excited”
Sonata said with a big smile on her face yet Sanako felt like her smile was
empty.
Sanako
hugged her smiling sister tightly and pat her head. “You’re really cute!” she
commented. The two of them laughed after that when they’ve realized that the
compliment goes for the both of them because they are identical twins after
all.
“By
the way Sonata, mom asked me to give this to you and also here’s the pudding
and the book you’ve asked me to get for you.” Sana reminded to her little sister.
“Thanks,
Sana ,” Sonata
said. “By the way, how’s school Sana ?
Did Ryouma and you had a fight again?” Sonata teased.
“Well,
it was still the same. I had to attend student council meeting and practice
archery at the same time so I was bit tired today.” She answered disappointingly.
“And with Ryou, he was busy with his club activities so I didn't meet him.” She
added.
“Oh,
so that’s why?” Sonata whispered to herself while grinning. “That’s why you’re
a bit down today, huh?”
“What
do you mean, you little!” Sonata threatens her sister with the tickle attack
when the door suddenly opened. The twins looked at the direction of the door.
“Okay,
you two stop now. Sanako go and get change already the food is going to get
cold. “Their mom said. “And Sonata here’s your medicine and food. Eat up and
drink your medicine, ok?”
“Yes
Mom!” The two said at the same time. Sanako left the room first after giving a
hand sign to her sister that she’s leaving. While her mom left after putting
the tray of food and medicine on the table and set them in front of Sonata. She
silently eat and drunk the medicine. After finishing almost just half of the
food, she pushed the moving table on the side so she can put her laptop on her
lap. She started surfing the net again.
There’s
a secret that Sonata had been hiding from her family. It was the fact that she
is working with the government through computer hacking. It all started when
she was 10 years old when she accidentally entered a site for people who want
to learn dirty hacking or illegal hacking. She got interest on it when she
found out that she can see the outside world without going out for real through
the surveillance camera around the world and computer she’s using. Since then
she started learning illegal hacking and once on her way in looking up at the
world. She accidentally tapped a discussion between a terrorist hacker planning
to sabotage Japan ’s Power
Management System that can cause the whole Japan to lose their electricity.
And can affect the life of many people. She was the one who sabotaged the
attempt on hacking, making her a hero at the age of 12. She was called Sleeping
Princess by everyone because of her way in hacking. She loves to sneak
at night. And for her the darkness of the night is the best time for her
attacks. The government then hired personally through an online confidential
chat. She told them about her circumstances and the reason for her in using
hacking. But she kept silent about her real identity by putting a gas masked on
her face. The payment she received on her work was all given to the charity she
stated to the government. She received nothing from them. One of the charities
she chose was the one her family created for her sake. The charity goal is to
create a cure for her illness and to further investigate about her unknown
illness. But up until now only she has the case of the specified illness. So
the invention somehow won’t advance because there’s no other source.
She
sleeps more at day time than night because of work. She never intends to tell
her mother about her work because she’s sure that her mother will be against it
but she doesn't intend to stop because this is her only way to be part of the
society. Even just being behind the big screen of her laptop she can walk
outside freely without having to leave her chamber. She can see how the world
she could never touch.
It
was already 2AM when she felt tiredness so she decided to put her laptop on
stand by and kept it beside her bed when she noticed the box lying at the table
beside her bed.
“Ah,
the box Sana
brought,” she thought. She picked it up and opened it carefully. She was
surprised to see a small iPod size gadget inside the box. It’s an advance one
because you can attach it on your wrist like a watch. It was something she hasn't seen or hasn't been released on the market. She took the box again and looked
around it but there’s no information regarding the product. The box just has her
name and a 4 leaf clover logo that looked familiar to her, below the logo a “4C
lover” is written. “Did I order this?” she asked herself. “Aaahhh, maybe this
is from Rei” she though so she put them on and turned the switch on but nothing
happened. She removed the small sized iPod from her wrist and returned it back
on the box which she hid inside the drawer beside her bed. She released a
sighed out of disappointment. She went to sleep after that.
